Years ago as I prepared to travel on a 19 hour flight, I threw a small book in my carry on luggage. The book called The Treasure Principle, by Randy Alcorn, had been on my nightstand for a year and now seemed like a good time to read it. I actually read it cover to cover about five times on that flight. When I closed it for the last time, I knew God was calling me to a new level of generosity.
When I returned home from that trip I spent a few months praying about what God was doing in my heart, and then I began to pray for women who might have a heart for this. The Lord placed three friends on my heart, Kathy Thompson, Judy Davidson, and Christi Guion. They too felt God’s leading and together we became the backbone of KIF. We spent time praying together about forming a group of women in Tucson who would come together to pool its resources to make a bigger impact on ministries than we might do personally.
Since that time, Kingdom Investment Foundation has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to Christian ministries. Over a hundred ministries here in Tucson as well as around the world have applied for grants, and we have supported many of them. Just as important as giving to ministries, we have experienced the blessing of coming together with women in our community to share and to talk about what it looks like to be a generous woman.
It has been a rich blessing to watch God bring women to KIF and change their hearts about the principles of generosity.
In HIS grip!
